Where the water meets the table

Cayman's waterfront dining splits into a few zones: the resort restaurants and beach bars strung along Seven Mile Beach (west-facing, so sunset is part of the meal), the harbour-side rooms in George Town, and the canal-side terraces at Camana Bay. Each has its own mood, toes-in-the-sand casual on the strip, polished and breezy at the resorts, lively and walkable at Camana Bay.

Wherever you book, ask specifically for a table on the water side; the difference between a true sea view and one a row back is the whole point of eating here.

Fine dining vs barefoot

For an occasion, the beachfront fine-dining rooms pair fresh local catch and a serious wine list with the sunset. For something easy, the beach bars do ceviche, tacos and rum punch with live music and the sand under your feet, usually at a gentler price. Both are quintessentially Cayman; pick by the night you want.

Timing the sunset

Seven Mile Beach faces west, so the sunset is the headline act. Book the early sitting (around 5:30 to 6pm) to land both a sea-view table and the show, and you will still have the evening ahead. Weekends and high season fill fast, so reserve a few days out.
